On January 12th, the Institute of Creativity and Innovation (ICI) held its faculty and staff meeting. ICI leaders, all faculty and administrative members attended the meeting. Wang Yi, Chair of ICI Council, hosted the meeting.
Zou Jiangtao, Vice Chair of the ICI Council, Gan Senzhong and Huang Chen, Deputy Deans of ICI, made their work reports respectively. In 2021, the ICI has adhered to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, deepened the Sino-foreign cooperative education mechanism, strengthened the standardized construction of internal control system, optimized the quality of students, promoted the development of disciplinary teaching, and actively participated in the aesthetic education and general education of XMU. Meanwhile, ICI has strived to expand educational resources, adhered to the principle of regarding students as the center, and achieved "strict management" and "great care" in student management. ICI tutors have achieved good results in XMU teaching innovation competition. The courses provided by ICI tutors have also been recognized by XMU as first-class courses and students have started to win various professional competitions. The work of ICI has been making steady progress in all aspects.
Philip Lambert, Associate Dean of ICI, reviewed the development of the ICI over the past year with the changes in numbers. He pointed out that UCA and XMU sides had deepened mutual understanding through continuous communication. He pointed out that the cooperation between two sides had become smoother and smoother, and the mutual trust had reached a new stage. He hoped that all ICI staff and faculty would continue to work together and deepen cooperation to contribute to ICI's talent training.
Dean Qin Jian summarized ICI work in 2021. He said that in the past year, confronted with the impact of pandemic of Covid 19, the ICI actively adopted innovative measures in the training of talents, build-up of faculty team, improving of school conditions, strengthening of communication mechanism, development of disciplines, and other aspects, which had laid a solid foundation for the ICI to make good start and for long-term development as well. ICI’s overall progress had been recognized by Joint Management Committee. He expressed his gratitude to all the faculty and staff for their hard work over the past year, and encouraged them to continue to promote the high-quality development of ICI in the new year.
Wang Yi, Chair of the ICI Council, stated that since the establishment of the ICI, all of the staff and faculty had overcome many difficulties together. The Sino-foreign cooperative education mechanism had been deepened, and the internal communication had been improved. She pointed out that all faculty and staff should further unify their thoughts, forge ahead, continue to deepen reform and innovation, and try to write a new chapter for the ICI development. Finally, she wished all the faculty and staff a happy and peaceful holiday, and wished everyone a happy Chinese New Year.
The meeting also announced the arrangement for the holiday and requirements on pandemic prevention and control.
The convening of this meeting further strengthened the cohesion of the faculty and staff and enhanced the confidence and determination of ICI development. It had also laid a good foundation for development of the ICI during China’s Fourteenth Five-year Plan.
