Intro
Prof.Feng Mengbo has had nearly thirty years of experience in creating digital media art since he owned his first personal computer in 1993. In this lecture, he will retrace the influence of early slides, film and theater on him from the perspective of media archaeology, and the significance of new media such as video, computer and internet to him. With his rich personal creations, he will explain the interaction between art and technology, analog and digital, and discuss with the audience the possibilities of media art in the future development.

Feng Mengbo, born in Beijing in 1966, now works and lives in Beijing, and is a professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1991. He is the pioneer of new media art in China and the first artist to work with computers in China. He began to experiment with new media interactive art as early as the 1990s and is especially known for his work with video games. .
His major exhibitions include the Venice Biennale (1993), the Gwangju Biennale in Korea (1995 and 1997), the Lyon Biennale (1997), Documenta 10-11 in Kassel (1997 and 2002), the Johannesburg Biennale (1997), the ISEA International Electronic Art Conference (1998), the Ars Electronica Electronic Art Festival (2004), the Shanghai Biennale (2004) and the Guangzhou Triennial (2002 and 2008), etc.
His works are collected in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), Guggenheim Museum, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, M+, Hong Kong, and the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), etc.
